Our Chemical Solutions: Sodium Chlorite and Chlorine Dioxide

While chlorine dioxide (ClO2) has chlorine in its name, chlorine dioxide’s chemistry is radically different than elemental chlorine. One atom makes all the difference. Chlorine dioxide is a high-value biocide that has excellent biocidal properties, higher oxidative capacity than chlorine, and proves effective over a wide pH range. Moreover, chlorine dioxide’s versatile, rapid kill mechanism usually results in the extra benefit of not having to use additional chemicals to address bacterial resistance.

Critical to any application of ClO2 is a reliable supply of sodium chlorite, a chemical that produces less by-products than other alternative precursors. International Dioxcide offers two independent sources of sodium chlorite supply with a dedicated fleet of specially lined railcars to expeditiously move the material to terminals strategically located throughout the country where there are large pockets of chlorine dioxide business. These production facilities have earned the necessary regulatory approvals (e.g., U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, FDA, etc.) and ANSI/NSF 60 certifications that are compliant with established standards and specifications.

ADOX™ sodium chlorite solutions are corrosive in nature and typically packaged in pails, drums, IBCs or bulk tank trailers. Sodium chlorite solutions can also be shipped in specially lined dedicated rail cars and ISO containers that are available under specific agreement conditions. We have supply terminals in all target regions. Handling sodium chlorite presents some unique safety considerations. International Dioxcide provides every customer with training to ensure that they understand the proper storage and handling procedures required to safely handle sodium chlorite prior to any shipment being received on-site.

Critical to any application of ClO2 is a reliable supply of sodium chlorite, a chemical that produces less by-products than other alternative precursors. The chlorine dioxide business of IDI offers three different sources of sodium chlorite supply located around the world. These production facilities have earned the necessary regulatory approvals (e.g., U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, FDA, etc.) that are compliant with established regulatory standards and specifications.

The International Dioxcide line of sodium chlorite solutions are engineered to meet the industry’s highest standards.

  • ADOX™ sodium chlorite is a proven solution for oxidative and odor control applications.
  • ADOX™ BCD is also a leading biocidal solution, which carries U.S. EPA registered labels in all 50 states and is approved for FDA uses.

Both ADOX™ product lines carry NSF 60 approvals for drinking water and have KOSHER certifications. Combine that with our strategic regional production and multiple North American terminal locations and we have the sodium chlorite solution to cost effectively and reliably supply your business now and for the future.
